Adopt a Family

We were not able to adopt the family, as planned, through the Salvation Army.  We believe God was guiding us back to our own Church family.  We decided to adopt two families within our church.  We have distributed gift cards to these families to help with their food expenses and to purchase gifts for Christmas.  Thank you for your generous donations.  As a Church, we are so blessed and we are so grateful that we were able to share our love and the spirit of Christmas with these families.

Ring the Bells

On November 21, members of First Christian "Rang the Bell" for the Salvation Army at Fisher Foods.  During the four hours that we rang, a total of $100.50 was collected for the Salvation Army.  The overall total of money collected through the Ringing of the Bells this year was $117,000, which was an increase of 9% over last year.  Thank you to those who rang and those who donated.

Collection Drive

The last Saturday of every month, First Assembly of God holds a soup kitchen for the community.  During this time, a meal is served and groceries and clothes are available.  The ministry relies on donations to serve others.  In the month of February, I am asking our church to help donate what we can to help keep this wonderful mission in Massillon running.  Here are items that are used most often:

*Broth of any kind
*V8 Juice, vegetable juice or tomato juice
*Canned vegetables
*Clothing Items
*Monetary donations are also welcome.  If you wouldlike to write   a check, you can make it out to Linda Remark or First Christian Church and it will be forwarded to First Assembly

The soup kitchen would also love any volunteers who would like to help serve the last Saturday of each month.  Arrival is 10:30 a.m. with the serving taking place from 11am-1pm with clean up after.  If you have any questions, please contact Linda Remark.

Storehouse of Blessings

The Storehouse of Blessings provides clean used furniture and appliances for those in our commmunity that are in need.  Barb Baker does a wonderful job in working with the public and the Salvation Army who screens all those who are given items.  Our Storehouse is in need of some TLC.  Barb is trying to take care of everything by herself and she needs some help.  If you are willing to donate some hours of work in cleaning furniture, sweeping, and helping to keep new donated items organized, please let Barb know.  We will soon be doing some advertising at other churches hoping to get more items in the Storehouse, so please call Barb and let her know that you are willing to help.

Sunday School Offering Support for
Franquelis Jimeniz through the
Dominican Project

Did you know that we are continuing to support a child from the Dominican Republic through our Sunday School offerings?  We support Franquelis Jimenez monthly with our gift of $40 to the Dominican Project.  This helps to insure Franquelis receives food, clothing and education through the day care program.  Franquelis is four years old, enjoys sports and lives with his mother, father and siblings.
