First Christian Church Youth Ministries:

Chi Rho:  (6th-8th grade)   and  CYF  (9th -12th grade)

As youth we fulfill the churches vision statement “Seeking, sharing, serving Christ”

Through times of study, worship and retreats we seek Christ.

As a supportive community we share Christ and his love with each other and with those who need to know Jesus.  And together we serve Christ through special local and regional mission projects.

Some of our  favorite active include:

Weekly Sunday school
Monthly youth meetings and worship

Yearly Youth Sunday

Fun activities like car rallies, volley ball, game nights, over night lock-ins,

Plays and skits during worship.  Summer Camp and retreats.

          Youth mission work:

Youth to the rescue is working to help elderly members of the church with outside clean up, and leaf raking and removal.

Yearly we have mission trips.   In the past we have traveled to Southern Ohio Appalachian area to help refurbish homes.    Last year we helped Hammer and Nails ministry here in Stark County by painting a house and making a new porch for a family in need.

Youth fundraises
and events are a great ways to fund our work and be a blessing to those groups and families we help.

Come and Join us as we bless others and serve Christ!

We also love Camp Christian and retreats with other Disciples youth in the state and our region.    “A week at Camp Christian is the best week of your life.”

The Spirit
By:  Nathan Dulabahn

The spirit has always been seen as a figurehead for life.
Our souls have never been seen as a true being.
The essence of our life, viewed as a story with no strife
Has more truth than none may imagine seeing.
What I am to tell you is how a spirit goes through life.

Now if I may, I shall tell the soul's journey like a butterfly's.
When we are being created, so is the same with the soul.
The spirit is the egg, then soon, the caterpillar in many eyes.
The caterpillar comes through this when we are just a day old.
But now we are to go through to the next stage of life.

When we turn two years of age using the Christian calendar,
Our spirit matures to the chrysalis stage.
This is the point where we are cleansed or made darker.
If we do not live as kind and sinless people, we shall stay in a cage.
There we will rot, as well as our souls, bringing a moth instead of a butterfly.

Now when we die we do not sleep for eternity,
Instead the butterfly so beautiful comes out to flutter about.
During this time we can wait for a loved one to join thee
Or move on towards where we are sent to go in one way with one route.
With Heaven above this plan, Hell below.

Of course there is a flaw into this proposition.
You see, butterflies can have offspring but the spirit cannot,
The spirit does not live like the phoenix, rising from ashes with no end.
Instead, the spirit leaves behind traces of its own energy to be caught
By the grass and the trees and the creatures of Earth.
This is how our spirits, our soul, our essence lives through life.
